I love her beautiful eyes, but I've noticed most Icelandic people have a
more european look. She's icelandic through and through, but can anyone
tell me does her family history extend back somewhere else?
Brett
Hey! So Bjork has something called 'Epicathal Folds'. This is common in people of Asiatic descent and people with down syndrome, though this does occur in Caucasians occasionally. I know a lot about this because my son, who is completely Caucasian, has epicanthal folds, little Asian eyes, and people ask all the time if he has Asiatic descent. He doesn't. As far as I know anyhow. They are a bit more common in Scandinavians as well. I hope this helps! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicanthic_fold

Very very simple, her mother, or her grandmother or some ancestor had an affair with asian guy. No Eskimos in Iceland and no Asian eyes in Scandinavia, don't look to hard. People have affairs.

Ask Byork if she can get a DNA test from Ancestry.com, National Geographic, or 23 & Me. That may settle it--but I'm not sure if they recognize alien DNA yet.

Yeah, those trademarked Bjork squinty eyes are stunning, aren't they? I have
heard that when Iceland was first being settled around 800 CE, many Irish slaves
were taken there, and the Celtic quality has remained in Iceland ever since.
Bjork does look rather Irish, don't you think?
My girlfriend is German-American and she has squinty eyes just like Bjork. In
fact, in a certain light, it's almost like she is Bjork. Once I even asked her
if I could call her Bjork. Ooh, I'd never seen her get so pissed off, what with
her raging jealousy and latent homosexuality and all. So, I never asked again.
Let me know if you wanna see her picture, so you can judge for yourself how much
of a Bjorkalike she really is. I have a jpg around here somewhere.

I've never read anything so ridiculous in my life, and Germany is centre of Europe not Scandinavia. Irish in Iceland were usually Irish priests.
It was Danish Vikings who went to Iceland.

I'm sure there are some who have assimilated into the modern society
just like the indigenous people here in the US.
The Sami have been assimilated into Norwegian bloodlines since before
there *was* a Norway. That's not very popular in some Norse circles to
think about--all that Aryan Master Race crap and all--but it's very
true.
Royce
Why would Norwegians care about the Aryan master race thing? That was made up by Htler in Germany which is central Europe, not Scandinavia. Norway fought against Nazis. Why are people going on about Norway when Iceland was a Danish colony?

Her asian looks have nothing to do with the Inuits (eskimos). They have
NEVER been in Iceland. Björk isn't the only Icelander that has eyes like
these and you meet people in Norway, Sweden and Suomi that look like this.
It is possible that this look comes from an asian tribe that travelled to
northern Scandinavia a long time ago. We are talking 1500 - 2000 years
here. IIRC they were called Quenir or Tchudans. Characteristics were black
hair and squinty eyes, these people were of a warrior nature.
Many think that Scandinavians are nothing but blonde hair and blue eyes,
that's wrong. If you read the Icelandic sagas you'll see that the greatest
heroes of the viking era were mostly dark haired and with a dark complexion.
Wasteland.
It's more like 7000 - 8000 years. A tribe in South China split up. Some moving to the northern parts of China, to Korea and Japan, whilst another group moved north-west to siberia and all the way over to Scandinavia. The genes must have come from there but become recessive (we have 2 variations of all genes) If one of the genes are dominant the recessive gene that exibits a specific trate loses. So some Norwegians probably have this recessive gene that gives Epicanthic folds. If two parents that both share one of these genes has a baby there is a 25 % chance their baby will get both reseccive variants of that gene. But there are probably lots of genes that gives this specific eye-trait. Therefor it is very rare, but absolutely possible.

PS
But Its important that you all are clear on that there have never been
eskimo or inuit ppl living in Iceland as there are in Greenland.
So the island was uninhabited when the vikings came?
YES! its was uninhabitet!
I guess that is the root of the misunderstanding all along, that you would
automaticaly assume that since there are inuit in greenland and nothern
america there had to be in Iceland to, but that is not the case!
The reason might be as u can see from looking at a map of the world, that
Iceland is actually not near Greenland at all, and was created by vulcanic
eruption on the seabed.
As for the vikings being Lapp..ehhh. u know the Lapps are in Finland dont
you?
They are and were a non sailing ppl, reindeers being their thing.
Lil
..This has been shown to be false.. There is a lot of evidence showing a native population in Iceland before the Vikings arrived. It is thought to be a small population of Celts and Celtic Monks. None of us can prove though for certain whether or not the Vikings had some Asian/eskimo/Lapp(whatever you want to call it) people with them. It is very possible Asian genes could have gotten into the original gene pool early on in the founding of the Current Iceland. Many scientist even think it is possible that there could have been some other small native groups living in Iceland even further back into history way before the Vikings. Problem is, it is very hard to find historic evidence dating back so far due to Iceland's climate and geography. It surely doesn't take a rocket scientist though to realize that Asian features in a Scandinavian person probably comes from some distant Asian relative and gene. I mean you have to realize, Iceland started from a relatively small number of people in the big scheme of things and then grew to its current size. So it could have been a very small amount of people with the Vikings with Asian ancestry that could have added these features into the Icelandic gene pool.

vikings are the progenitors of blondes in russia around the same time mongol hordes passed through, and huns. The vikings took slaves, and had contact along the rivers as far as the black sea, even bhagdad. I am certain those traits come from viking raids into the steppes of asia.

Some people are just born with epicanthic folds. I've known two non-Asian people who had them: one was 100% Irish, the other was half Greek, half Polish.

Lapps are the Sami.
Lapps is just wrong for some reason.
Like American Indians/ Native Americans
or the Untouchables/ Dalits
and so on...
Anyone see the opening ceremonies for Lilehamer 1994?
Lapp is a derogatory term for Sami. It means "patch" inferring a poor, inferior people with patched clothing.

Oriental is not the correct term to describe peoplw from asia the correct term its ASIANS because oriental is ITEMS made in ASIA. For example, a base, plates, drawings from asia are oriental but a person that is lets say from Korea its an ASIAN person remember this because its a huge mistake a lot of people make calling them orientals which is like calling them objects not people and is a very offensive term to them.

It's better than "Asian" as Asia is a huge continent with many different looking people. Asian can mean Indians who don't remotely look like Chinese, or could mean Nuristanis in Afghanistan [these people look completely White and have light hair and eyes], large parts of southern Thailand have groups who resemble Africans. Oriental is specific in this case.
